Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Bruce Wilcox Taylor, 87, passed away on June 20, 2026 in his lifelong hometown of Delta, Utah.

Bruce was born on May 23, 1939 in Delta, Utah to Lionel and LaVon Wilcox Taylor. He grew up with four sisters and one brother. Bruce graduated from Delta High School in 1957. He later answered the call to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden, where he spent two and a half years sharing his testimony and developing a lifelong love for the gospel.

Bruce met Margaret Kay Sanderson when she was his sister's college roommate in Cedar City, Utah. It wasn't long before he knew she was the one he wanted to spend his life with. They were married in the Manti Temple on December 20, 1963.

They started their married life in Battle Mountain, Nevada and later moved to Grantsville, Utah then eventually settled in Delta where they raised their ten children. As Bruce would say "I had all daughters except for 7 sons." Family was always at the center of Bruce's life. He worked hard to provide for those he loved and found his greatest happiness in being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bruce spent twenty years working for the telephone company before joining the Millard School District as an electrician in the maintenance department, where he was respected by everyone who knew him. He was a hard worker who could always be counted on. Bruce made lasting friendships with his coworkers, and those friendships meant a lot to him throughout his life. He was always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge, or help solve a problem. One of the things people loved most about Bruce was his great sense of humor. He was quick with a joke, loved to make people laugh and could brighten even the toughest day with his quick wit and smile.

Home for Bruce was his farm. He loved working at the farm and caring for our horses, sheep, goats, and spending his days outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, fixing something that needed repair, or gathering family together. Bruce was happiest when he was busy and sharing life with those he loved. He also enjoyed taking drives with friends, visiting, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life.

Bruce was known for the little things that made people smile. He loved his Pepsi and never missed an opportunity to share a treat with his children and grandchildren. Whether it was a pocket full of Swedish Fish, a handful of mixed nuts, or an ice cream bar, he found joy in giving and loved seeing the smiles those small acts of kindness brought to those he loved.

Bruce is survived by his children: Shelly (Glyn) Ussery; Travis Taylor; Ginger (Bryce) Moody; Burke (Kristie) Taylor; Kristen (Dallan) Anderson; Jade (ReNee) Taylor; Tyson (Danielle) Taylor; Nicholas (Mandolin) Taylor; Randy (Alma) Taylor; and Dustin Taylor. He also leaves behind 36 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret; His parents Lionel and LaVon; his sister, IlaRae; his daughter-in-law, Vicki; and his great-granddaughter, Taylee King.

Bruce will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, unwavering love for God, his family, and serving those around him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Delta Stake Center, 125 White Sage Avenue, Delta, Utah. Friends may visit and see the family (Bruce always said it is better to be seen than viewed) on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to the services.

Interment will follow in the Delta City Cemetery under the care of Olpin Stevens Funeral Home.

We would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Millard County Care and Rehab Center for the love and compassionate care and many acts of kindness and support shown to our father.
