Carolyn Stevens Henrie, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Sutherland, Utah September 23, 2026 at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 10, 1949, in Holden, Utah, to Earl O. Stevens and Lola McKee Stevens. She was raised to value family, friendship, and community, and those things remained at the heart of who she was.

Carolyn grew up running through the hills of the small town of Holden,Utah. She had grandparents next door, and cousins were always close by. Elementary school happened right there in Holden, and every kid in town was in her class. This created friendships and connections that would last a lifetime.

A proud and passionate Millard Eagle, she loved every moment of her time at Millard Junior High and High School. She played the cornet in the marching band and was in the Pep club/Selgaes dance team. She also could be found happily cheering in the stands at every Millard High ball game and activity.

After High School, she attended the College of Southern Utah, where she danced on the drill team and made many friends and memories. While in Cedar, she was set up on a date with Thayne, who was home on leave from the US Navy. It didn’t take long to realize they were meant for each other, and they were married in Holden on December 20th, 1969. They were sealed on June 17, 1971 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Thayne moved her to Sutherland, and together they put down roots. It was there that they would raise their family. Moving to the west side of the valley was new to her, but she quickly made it home. She became a lifelong Delta Rabbit, and you couldn’t find a bigger fan.

Mom loved the water and was an excellent swimmer, skier and certified SCUBA diver. She could drive a boat better than most, and she spent countless hours at the “res,” teaching family and friends to slalom ski. Lake Powell was another favorite, and she treasured the countless family trips and couples’ trips they took there over the years.

When Lance and Thayne discovered motorcycles and weekend racing, Mom decided that if they were going to do it, we were all going to do it as a family. So she marched out and bought a camp trailer and made it official, and we did. We spent countless weekends together in the deserts of Utah, creating memories, chasing races, and enjoying the adventure as a family.

After the flood of 1983, farming became a very difficult way to make a living, so Thayne took a construction job to help support his farming habit. That left Carolyn and the kids to watch after the farming and irrigating, which is another one of the many jobs that mom took on without complaining (too much).

One of her greatest joys was sports—especially watching her children and grandchildren participate. She rarely missed an opportunity to cheer from the sidelines, and she took great pride in supporting the athletes she loved. Her passion for sports also became part of her work at the Delta Sports Center, where she loved helping local teams by ordering their sports gear. She knew the teams, the players, and the equipment, and she genuinely enjoyed being part of the local sports community. She loved watching any football or basketball game on TV. She was also a lifelong Utah Jazz fan.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and willingly served in many callings throughout her life. Some of her favorite opportunities to serve included being a Young Women camp director, serving in a Relief Society presidency, Young Women President and later serving as a temple worker in the Payson Utah Temple. She and Thayne also served a service mission together in the Delta, Utah West Stake. She found great joy in serving others and in the relationships she built along the way.

Above all, her family was her greatest joy. She loved watching her children and grandchildren grow, cheering them on in their accomplishments, and being present for the moments that mattered. Her family will remember her for her love, her loyalty, her service, her enthusiasm from the stands, and the countless ways she showed that she cared.

She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and love that will continue through the many lives she touched.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband William Thayne Henrie of Delta, Utah: brother Hal Stevens (Sandy), Ephriam, Utah, son and daughters: Lance (Margo) Henrie, Thatcher, Arizona; Danielle (David) Styler, Delta, Utah; Shannon (Kyle) Rowley, Cedar City, Utah; Cassie (Brian) Nakken, Stansbury Park, Utah; Lori (Trent) Weight, Springville, Utah, as well as her 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Orson Stevens and Lola McKee Stevens, Brother Roy E. Stevens, Sister Gale Stevens and grandson Walker Henrie Rowley.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, at 11 a.m., at the Sutherland LDS Chapel. Viewings will be held on Monday evening, 6 to 8 pm, and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Sutherland Chapel.
