Oak City, Utah – David James Allan, 69, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at his home in Oak City, Utah. He was born April 11, 1957, in Santa Ana, California, to Harold James Allan and Joan Kelly.

David moved with his family to Springville, Utah, at the age of 14, where he spent winters skiing and enjoying the outdoors. He graduated from Springville High School in 1975, and enjoyed taking university classes to further his education. He moved to Delta in his twenties, where he worked as a pipe fitter to help build the Intermountain Power Project. He continued there as a mechanic and maintenance planner, retiring in 2020 after over 40 years.

David met the love of his life, Darcie Lyn Gardner, in January 1996, in Delta, Utah. They married in the Logan, Utah Temple, June 28, 1996, and just celebrated 30 wonderful years together. He cherished his sweet and beautiful wife, whose love and companionship were the foundation of his life. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, devotion, and enduring love.

He was the proud father of five spirited daughters, each of whom brought immeasurable joy, adventure, and purpose to his life. He delighted in watching them grow into the remarkable individuals they are today and loved them with unwavering pride and steadfast support.

David was a man whose greatest joys were found in the people he loved and the beauty of nature. When he wasn't with his family, he found peace in the outdoors. Nature was his sanctuary, and he often said he felt closest to God in the mountains. Whether he was fishing, camping beneath the stars with his daughters, or quietly searching for birds, he felt most at home in nature. Birding was a lifelong passion that reflected both his patience and his keen eye for detail. He delighted in listening for birdsong and spotting a rare visitor, finding joy in the beauty and serenity of the world around him.

He had a sharp mind and an enduring curiosity. He loved to learn, enjoyed exploring new ideas, and was always eager to understand how things worked. His interests were broad, and he always approached life with an inquisitive spirit. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his intelligence, his sense of humor, and his deep love of the outdoors.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Darcie, of Oak City, Utah; his five daughters, Michael (Tye) Davis of Vernal, Utah, Jessica Allan of Boise, Idaho, Amanda (Bob) Hadlock of Groesbeck, Texas, Amber (Adam) Montero of Sandy, Utah, and Hallie Allan (Aidan Funai) of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Tori, Tristan, Jerrika, Brooklyn, Carter Todd, Carter James, Parker, Madelyn, and Amelia, as well as great-grandchildren Kylo, Everett, Stevie, and three more on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Jeff (Kim) Allan of Texas, Jaimie (Rob) Shipp of Florida, and Chad (Paige) Allan of Utah.

David was preceded in death by his father, Harold James Allan, mother, Joan Kelly Wagoner, stepfather, Alan Bruce Wagoner, mother-in-law, Winona Capener Gardner, father-in-law, Keith Alphonzo Gardner, and several aunts and uncles.
