Early on the morning of June 25th our dad Mundi passed away. He was born on November 16, 1941 in Flin Flon, Manitoba. As a child his family moved to the west coast of Canada and he grew up just outside of Victoria on Vancouver Island. He spent many hours as a kid roaming the beaches of the island, building rafts and riding bike to nearby lakes. He always spoke of those years on Tanner Road, living near cousins, with fondness. During his teenage years his family moved further up the island to Port Alberni where he finished high school and worked in the local paper mill. This is when he met the love of his life Lois, while she was serving an LDS mission. He knew he liked that cute sister missionary and got permission to write her letters on her mission. By the time she got home he was working on her Uncle’s farm in Banida Idaho waiting for her. They were married on March 19, 1965 in the Logan Utah temple.
As newlyweds they lived in Logan while Dad attended Utah State University. They moved to Salt Lake City and then Provo when Dad transferred to BYU. During this time he started working in the mines near Eureka to support their growing family. In 1976 they moved their family to Eureka and Dad worked full time in the mines until they shut down. He trained to be an operator at the IPP power plant, and they moved to Millard County in the summer of 1986 and finished raising their family in Oak City and Delta.
Dad was a hard worker all of his life and spent his life in service of his family and those around him. He trained as an EMT, Volunteer Fire Fighter and Mine Rescue worker. Always serving any where he was. He served in many callings in the LDS church and lived a life of service to his family and community. He was devoted to his Savior and loved serving in the Payson temple with his eternal companion, he said those were some of the best years of his life. His family was always his priority. Time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his favorite times. He loved taking yearly trips to Canada to have brother time with his brothers. Family relationships were the point of life for him.
Dad loved the ocean and desert equally and spent as many happy hours out digging trilobites and geodes as he did roaming the beaches where he was raised. He loved daffodils, growing vegetable gardens and the noise of grandkids running wild in the house. He was so proud of all of his kids and took joy in their accomplishments. He was always a support in their challenges, never hesitating to drop what he was doing and come help his kids anytime they needed it. He loved laughing and had a quick wit and kept us all laughing to the end. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
Dad is survived by his nine kids. Jed (Lisa) Pedersen, Alan Pedersen, Brian (Traci) Pedersen, Tony (Karen) Pedersen, Leanne Pedersen, Wendy (Sam) Stevens, Brent (Jodi) Pedersen, Kristina (Ben) Johnson, Robin Pedersen. He is survived by brother Jim Pedersen; 39 grandkids and their spouses and 24 great grandkids that we all know were his favorite.
He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Lois Miles, his parents Karl Pedersen and Margret Goodmanson Pedersen and his brother Laurence Pedersen, borrowed daughter Deannette Almanza, and his grandson’s Logen Dunford and Brennan Johnson.
