Helen George Finlinson passed away peacefully November 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was 81 years old.
Helen was born August 2, 1944 to Olaf and Blanche Stevens George and grew up in Kanosh, Utah. As a little girl she loved helping on her family's farm and sheep ranch.
Helen graduated from Utah State University with both a BS and MS degree in education. She was a gifted educator, teaching 22 years to students with special needs.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many callings, including ward and stake Relief Society President.
The central pillar of her life was her family and faith. In December of 1969, Helen was married and sealed for time and all eternity to Vance J. Finlinson in the Manti Utah Temple. Together they established their home and raised their eight children in Oak City, Utah, building a life full of love, faith, and family. Their eternal marriage was a testament to enduring love and commitment.
Helen's home was a vibrant hub of activity, where children and grandchildren constantly gathered and wanted to be. All who entered felt her unconditional love and enjoyed her wonderful home cooked meals. Her door was always open, and her warmth made every visitor feel cherished.
Helen was known for her outgoing and fun personality and made friends easily. She had an adventurous soul. She enjoyed traveling, four wheeling, and being outdoors.
Helen is survived by her devoted husband, Vance; her children: Jean (David) Turner of Elk Ridge, George Finlinson of Oak City, Fran (Doug) Petersen of Nephi, Matthew (Jenni) Finlinson of Oak City, Joshua/OJ (Kara) Finlinson of Sutherland, Susan, (Jared) Christensen of Delta, Heber (Shelly) Finlinson of Oak City, and Jacob (Kate) Finlinson of Spanish Fork. She also leaves behind her 37 cherished grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Sterling George and sisters Deanna Hurst and Marylouise Beckstrand. Her legacy of love and faith will live on through the generations she has nurtured.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Blanch George, and her two brothers Brant and Ray George.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 21st from 6:00- 8:00pm at the Oak City church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 at the Oak City Church with a viewing prior from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will follow the funeral at the Oak City Cemetery under the care of Olpin Stevens Funeral Home.
