Layton Lance Sagers

October 13, 2006 — May 4, 2023

Flowell

Layton Lance Sagers, 16, passed away from suicide May 4, 2023 in Flowell Utah, a tragedy the family is still trying to comprehend. He was born October 13, 2006 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lance Lefevre and Sally Robinson Sagers. He resided in Fillmore until the age of 11 when they moved to Keyhole Ranch, the family farm, in Flowell, Utah. He loved Flowell and defended it passionately. He said, “You can do literally anything here!”

Layton was actively engaged in many different activities.  He was a sophomore at Millard High School where he was an excellent athlete in both football and basketball.  Layton was also in the seminary program and genuinely loved his association with those in his class.  He mentioned one of his hobbies was learning about the gospel. He loved his friends and truly valued those relationships.

Layton was a hard worker on the ranch he loved.  He worked cattle side by side with his dad, grandpas, cousins, and uncles.  He enjoyed running cattle on the mountain in the summers and riding in the indoor arena with his dad and brothers. He was his dad and grandpa’s right hand in any and all jobs on the ranch or in the shop. There is evidence of his handiwork all over the ranch. Day or night, he took his turn cutting and raking hay, stacking bales, and preparing corn ground for planting. He rebuilt his own saddle and was so proud of that.

Layton loved hunting and fishing and spent a lot of time in the mountains. He was deeply patriotic and truly loved his country.  He enjoyed talking politics with his grandparents (#letsgobrandon) and took pride in decorating his family home for the 4th of July. He was smart and quick witted with a great sense of humor. Layton had a special connection with, and doted on, his little sister Quincey.

Layton is survived by his parents Lance and Sally, and his younger siblings Parker, 15; Nixon, 10; Riggs, 7; and Quincey, 3; his grandparents Alden and Brenda Robinson, Flowell, Utah; and Dennis and Jerri Sagers, Rush Valley, Utah.
