Listen to Obituary

Scipio, Utah – Marlin S. Miller, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. He was born in Nephi, Utah, to Joseph George and Zenna Memmott Miller. Marlin grew up in Scipio, later married and moved away, and eventually returned to the same beautiful valley where he retired and spent the remainder of his life.

Marlin married his sweetheart, Linda Lee Quarnberg, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of love and devotion. Their marriage was blessed with six children: Kevan (Kim), Troy, Kurt (Suzanne), Greg, Jan (Stefanie), and Lisa. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

During his early years of marriage, Marlin traveled the state of Utah working on the road crew with his father. He later moved to Salt Lake City, where he began his career at Eimco Inc., working his way from the shop floor to traffic manager. He went on to serve as traffic manager for Scotia Corporation until his retirement.

Marlin lived a life filled with hard work, service, and love. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and working in his shop. He was a natural teacher, always eager to show others how to do things for themselves. He was a gifted singer and especially loved barbershop music and sang with various groups and choirs. He also loved telling jokes, watching basketball and western movies, and reading.

He served faithfully for many years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, giving countless hours of service. Marlin held numerous callings, including serving as a bishop in the Belvedere Ward and later as stake president of the Salt Lake Wells Stake. He found joy in ministering to others, visiting those in need, and sharing his compassion and testimony through quiet, steady service.

Marlin is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Zenna; and brothers Russell and Ellis. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his six children; his siblings Que and Teresa; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and service.

Marlin will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His steady presence, humor, and quiet strength blessed the lives of all who knew him.
