Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Rebecca Ann Reeve, known fondly as Becky, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the IMC Hospital in Murray, Utah. Born on May 15, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, Becky lived a life that inspired many with her indomitable spirit and unwavering faith.

Becky's journey began in Holladay, Utah, where she was raised in a loving family. After graduating from Olympus High School in 1958, she pursued her passion for education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University in 1974. Her love for teaching was evident throughout her life, particularly during her years of service as Primary President, where she thrived in nurturing the young children in her Ward.

Becky's deep commitment to her faith and mission work had a profound impact on her life and the lives of those around her. In 1961, she felt a call to serve in the Western States Mission in Denver, Colorado. A turning point came on November 17, 1962, when a car accident in New Mexico left her paralyzed. Despite this life-altering event, Becky demonstrated remarkable resilience and continued her service, presiding alongside her parents over the Anaheim, California Mission from 1975 to 1978.

Her accomplishments were both notable and commendable. Becky's spirit shone brightly when she was honored as “Miss Handicap Utah” in 1964. At the time of her passing, she was recognized as the oldest quadriplegic in the country, having embraced this challenge for over 63 years. Becky used her experiences to uplift others, becoming an author and motivational speaker, and dedicating ten years to edit the Webber’s Warriors newsletter.

Those who knew Becky were touched by her boundless love and compassion. She taught everyone she met about the beauty of faith with her example that “The Spirit Knows No Handicap.” Her testimony of Jesus Christ was her greatest joy, and she embraced all whom she encountered with an open heart. She claimed and loved her many nieces, nephews, cousins, missionaries, and friends as her posterity, fostering a sense of belonging and community that will endure through the cherished memories they hold.

Becky is survived by her brother Roger (Dee) and her sisters Venice (Garth) Finlinson and Barbara (Lane) Nielson; alongside a wide circle of loved ones who will carry her legacy forward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rex Sr. and Phyllis; her older brother and his wife, Rex Jr. and Barbara; her sister JoAnn; and her younger brother David.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday December 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Murray 1st Ward Church, located at 755 E Three Fountains Dr., Murray, UT 84107, with a second viewing on December 20 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The funeral service will follow at the same location on Saturday December 20 at 11:00 AM.

Becky's legacy is not one of limitation, but of love, faith, and the uplifting of others. Her spirit will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
