Richard Lee Warren

Richard Lee Warren, 47, of Scipio, Utah, unexpectedly passed away on August 10, 2026.

He was born on August 22, 1978, in Payson, Utah, to Robert & Wendy Warren.

Richard lived a life centered around service, family, and helping others. He proudly served his country in the National Guard, completing three deployments before retiring honorably. He also dedicated many years to a career in law enforcement, a profession he deeply loved. One of the highlights of his career was working alongside his K9 partner, Bonsai, with whom he shared a special bond.

Following his retirement from law enforcement, Richard continued to find ways to help others, including through his time at White River Academy.

Richard had a way of connecting with people, and his willingness to listen, help, and care for others left an impression that will continue far beyond his time here.

Richard shared 23 years of marriage and a lifetime of memories with Brittanee Nielsen. Although their lives later took different paths, together they built a family that remained one of the most important parts of Richard’s life.

Richard was a proud father to Tolbee (Ailyn), GrayDee (Ashley), and KenaDee (Brayden). Later in life, his family grew to include Whitney, Deegan, Jaelee, and Addie, whom he also loved and welcomed into his life.

Of all the titles Richard held throughout his life, one of his greatest was Grandpa. His grandchildren, Maeva, Reeve, Romee, and his bonus grandson, Trip, were among his greatest joys. They brought a special happiness into his life, and the love he had for them was immeasurable.

Richard spent countless years following his children from one activity to another. Whatever his kids were passionate about, Richard wanted to be part of it. He spent countless hours at practices, games, and events and often stepped in to coach the sports they loved.

The outdoors held a special place in Richard’s heart. He loved being in the mountains, where he found a sense of peace and freedom. This is the place where Richard felt at home.

Those who knew Richard will remember his incredible selflessness.

He cared deeply, loved fiercely, and carried a light that touched more people than he probably ever realized.

Richard's life should not be defined by how it ended. His story is so much bigger than one moment. It is found in the lives he protected while serving in law enforcement, the country he served during three deployments, the young men he helped guide, the athletes he coached, the friends he stood beside, and most importantly, the children and grandchildren he loved.

His light lives on in every person who was fortunate enough to know and love him.

Richard is survived by his Mom, Wendy Warren, his children, grandchildren, brothers (Robbie, Ron, & Rhett) and many others who he loved dearly

Richard is preceded in death by his father, Robert Warren; his sister, Whitney Mcrae ; his bonus daughter Whitney Elton; his grandparents; and several beloved cousins and close friends.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, laughter, generosity, and love. While his absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved him, his family hopes Richard will be remembered for the countless ways he made it brighter while he was here

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 AM in the Fillmore 1st & 4th Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
