Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Robin Sorensen returned to her Heavenly Father on February 22, 2026.

She was born in Granite City, Illinois, on August 1, 1968. She moved across the country when she was just one week old and lived with her grandparents while her father was at war. Robin was the oldest of five biological siblings and later became one of twelve children of John and Mary Ann James.

Robin married Keith Christian Sorensen on May 14, 1988, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed in the Provo Temple a year later. Together they were blessed with twelve children: Alex (Mandy), Dan (Shelly), Michael (Valerie), Nikki, Kimberlee (Damon), Jada (Donny), Cassandra (Dylan), Alexis, Alyssa (Hunter), Aliah, Izzy, and Hannah.

They have 30 wonderful grandchildren.

Robin was also blessed to serve as a foster parent for over 34 years, caring for hundreds of “God’s seemingly unwanted children.” She loved her family fiercely and always tried to do what was in everyone’s best interest. Robin was a woman of deep faith and served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid cross-stitcher and stitched for over 40 years.

She embraced connection, always taking her family on vacations. Her favorite place to take them was Disneyland. Holidays were always a special time, especially the Fourth of July. Her favorite part of Independence Day was gathering her entire family together to spend quality time with one another. She joined in activities with her children and grandchildren—even when it was physically painful. Her family will never forget the marshmallow and water fights each year. She truly made the best of every moment, no matter what.

Robin was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann James; her daughter, Alyssa Marie Sorensen; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Dianella Sorensen.

She is survived by her loving husband, Keith Christian Sorensen; 11 of her 12 children; 30 grandchildren; her father, John George James; her sisters, Rachael Keller (Jim) and Marla Knight (Tim Knight); and her brothers, Carl Burke, Jayson Burke (Amber), and Jared Burke (Amy), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the Fillmore Stake Center (25 S 300 W). The viewings will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday prior to the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be at the Fillmore City Cemetery under the care of Olpin Stevens Funeral Home. The funeral stream will be available at this link:https://youtube.com/live/0vZhr1UZ590?feature=share
