Delta, Utah — Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Russell Marion Henrie, age 56, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1970, in Delta, Utah, to Richard Ross Henrie and Marsha Westwood Henrie. He married his high school sweetheart, Gina Crapo Henrie, on June 14, 1991, in the Manti Utah Temple.

Russ was raised in Sutherland, Utah, and was the fourth of six children. From an early age, he learned to drive tractors and worked on the family farm. He also enjoyed racing motorcycles with his dad and brothers. Russ graduated from Delta High School, where he loved playing football and wrestling, becoming a state champion in both sports.

Russ went on to play football at Weber State University for four years, where he was known as the “Dirt Farmer from Delta.” As the starting center, he received the Kevin Lapa Award, recognizing him as the team’s most inspirational player. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Russ moved his family to Delta and began teaching health at Delta High School.

He was the head football and wrestling coach for many years, and was a great role model and mentor for his students. In addition to teaching and coaching, Russ worked for The Bug House, where he often left school to spend late nights working on projects. He loved digging for rocks in the desert and became a talented lapidary artist, creating unique shapes and animals from septarian nodules and Dugway geodes. Russ was known for his work ethic, even building his own home with the help of his family.

In his spare time, Russ loved golfing, fishing, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was their favorite person in the world, and he loved creating special memories with them. Russ built them a sandbox, a playhouse, and a slide down his stairs. He never needed much of an excuse to have a good time. He loved to joke, tell stories, and keep everyone around him laughing.

Russ was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His love for the Savior was reflected in the way he served others in his various callings. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ was always very important to him, and it showed through his commitment to keeping his covenants with our Heavenly Father.

Russ is survived by his wife, Gina, and their children: Dallin (Alina), Tana (Darin), Brooklyn (Chance), Brinley (Lakei), and his nine grandchildren (Lincoln, Peyton, Marley, Owen, Ava, Dane, Tai, Ace, Mia). He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Marsha Henrie, and his siblings, Gene (Dixie), Andrea (Russ), George (Andrea), Jennifer (Kyle), and Scott (Jill). Russ was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Loy Crapo, as well as his grandparents, George and Jane Westwood and Cutler and Mary Henrie.

A viewing will be held at the Delta Stake Center on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (125 S White Sage Ave. Delta, UT 84624). Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Delta West Stake Center at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (188 N Main St, Hinckley, UT 84635).
