Shonna Le Payne, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024. Known for her boundless generosity, creative spirit, and adventurous heart, Shonna was a constant source of love and strength to all who knew her.
For 45 years, Shonna shared a beautiful partnership with her husband, Edward Payne. Together, they raised a family rooted in faith, love, and discovery. Their travels often took them across the globe as they explored the wonders of the world together during her husband’s many assignments with the Tabernacle Choir, creating cherished memories and strengthening their bond with each experience.
Shonna’s life was defined by her dedication to others. Whether serving as a firefighter, medical technician, or faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always there for those in need, offering compassion and care in moments of difficulty. Her willingness to serve extended far beyond her professional life—she was the person everyone could count on, whether to lend a hand, share wisdom, or simply listen with an open heart.
A talented artist and craftsman, Shonna found joy in creating. She filled her home and the homes of her loved ones with her beautiful paintings and handmade treasures, each one a reflection of her love and creativity. These works remain as lasting reminders of the joy she brought to those around her.
Above all, Shonna adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Nana.” They were her greatest joy, and she filled their lives with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Whether cheering them on in their achievements or simply spending time with them, Nana created memories they will cherish forever.
Shonna’s memory will live on through her husband, Edward; her children, Lisa, Michael, Scott, and Robert; and her 11 beloved grandchildren. She is now reunited with her daughter Erin, whose presence she missed deeply.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that Shonna’s legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who knew her. While she is no longer with us, the impact of her life will be felt for generations. While she is no longer with us, the impact of her life will be felt for generations. We also take comfort in knowing that we’re an eternal family and that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ we’ll be able to see her again.
