Van Dexter Pikyavit, 42, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026 in Fillmore, UT. He was born June 17, 1984 in Richfield to Matilda Tsosie and Neil Pikyavit.
Van was raised on the Kanosh Reservation and went to school in Fillmore, Utah. He was a hard worker who was always on the go, never staying in one place for too long. No car was needed, as he walked everywhere he could. When he was able to, he loved spending his time fishing and hunting. Through it all, he always made sure to call his grandma Jeannie to let her know he was okay. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his six children: Mya Pikyavit of Salt Lake City, Utah; Timmy Pikyavit of Kanosh, UT; Rolen Pikyavit of Kanosh, UT; Blake Leon Pikyavit of St. George, UT; Mia Pikyavit of St. George, UT; Tavay Pikyavit of St. George, UT; his father: Neil Pikyavit of St. George, UT; grandmother: Jeannie Pikyavit; two brothers Dylan Pikyavit and Kailor(legend) Echazarria; three sisters: McKenna Pikyavit, Chantelle Pikyavit, and Keiyahna Pikyavit; three grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother Matilda Tsosie; two brothers: Dee Pikyavit and Ty Pikyavit; grandfather Phil Pikyavit.
An All night Traditional Sing will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 with the Dinner starting at 5:00 PM in the Shivwits Gymnasium (6100 West 3700 North, Ivins, UT 84738).
