Henry Anthony Paxton

December 17, 1925 ~ April 4, 2020 (age 94)

Henry Anthony Paxton, age 94, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at his home in Salt Lake City, UT surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 17, 1925 in Kanosh, UT to Forrest Turner Paxton and Norma Whatcott Paxton. He married Colleen Adams on August 2, 1945 in Kanosh.

He graduated from Millard High School and served in the Navy in WWII. While living in Kanosh he worked as a farmer, rancher, and equipment operator for the BLM. He moved his young family to Salt Lake City, where he and Colleen settled in and made a permanent home. While there Henry worked in a silver mine, as a bull hide shaker, a laborer at Hygeia Ice, a bus driver and then found his groove as a long haul truck driver. He retired from driving after many years and miles on the road.

He loved camping, hunting, fishing, playing the game of “Washers” and making people laugh.

He was never able to get his strength back after heart surgery in 2008 but the best, most powerful blessing he ever had was his wife Colleen who sacrificed much to care for and comfort him.

He is survived by his wife Colleen, daughter Charlene (Sam – deceased) Wilkinson of Salt Lake City, UT, son Gail (Lois) Paxton of Spanish Fork, UT, 10 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at the Olpin Stevens Funeral Home (55 W 200 S, Fillmore, UT) from 11:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, April 11. A private graveside service for family members will be in the Kanosh Cemetery that same day at 12:30pm.
